Monday - Bank Holiday
Apparently, Irish people work and go to university at Halloween and All Saints' Day but they have a bank holiday just a few days later. So this Monday we had no school, which gave me the opportunity to get some stuff done. I washed my bedclothes and PJs and baked muffins - yeah I know, but they are soo delicious. Then I spent some time editing the Irish folklore video and after lunch I left for Sultan's place where we had our usual weekly EFL group meeting. We didn't really do much and we went over to Oliver and Pontus' place because we decided we needed the guitar they had there to practice the songs we will play. That is, Pontus will play. Of course, we ended up not really doing that either. But I realised everybody has so big muscles here, like, surprisingly big, even Oliver and Sultan. We stayed really late (spent almost 7 hours with them) so I cycled home alone (Sultan stayed for a while but I wanted to leave) and fast because it was dark and the weather was chilly. And I was tired. But at least I talked to mom this day on the phone, which was really comforting. I kinda started missing her, as I started missing home. But now it's okay again. :) I will be glad though to see her in December.
By the way, with this day came the 2 months anniversary of my stay in Ireland!! Now that I think about it, this might just be the reason they had a bank holiday, to celebrate my valuable presence, right?

Tuesday - eating much, editing more
So at EFL we started to have the presentations. This week Eszter and Vera's team did theirs along with two or three other groups and it was pretty good. EFL is much easier to sit through if it's other students talking and not Michelle. Then I went swimming (3600ms this time!) and had lunch alone in Teach Fáilte. In the afternoon we had a short Irish language class and then I went to Lidl on my way home. After I got home I continued editing the video for Irish folklore and then I cooked (or what) mushrooms and it was so delicious that, instead of leaving it for Wednesday, I ended up eating all of it... Then I fucked up more time with the video editing (we are starting to be friends with Movie Maker) and finally went to bed.
Wednesday - Sunshine!!!
I happened to take my second 5-mins-lunch in a row (I usually cook so it's not often that I have to eat fishfingers with veggies from the freezer) as I had eaten all my mushrooms last night I originally intended to bring to uni... But you know what's cool? The sun was SHINING! Unbelievable, I know. We sat down in front of the library and just enjoyed the sun before we had to go to Irish language. After class we went to eat our lunch (in my case, the aforementioned fishfingers and peas) and it starts to annoy me how much time Irish people spend on heating their food. We usually stand in the row for the microwave for much longer than what would be reasonable. Some people heat their rice and meat for 3 or 4 minutes! The EFL class was kinda fun (with new teachers) and I had a white choco mocca with Eszter in Scholars' before I cycled home (skipping archery this time, the first time since I started) and she stayed for krav maga. Then I cooked and had an unusually long phone conversation with my boyfriend as the past few days we only talked for a few minutes because he was tired or I had something else to do. Well, now we've made up for it.![]() |

Thursday - usual stuff and HP quiz
I got up a bit earlier than I was supposed to because I wanted to (okay, tbh I needed to) wash my clothes. Then I had a TESOL tutorial and went to swimming practice, after which I cycled home for lunch. Not much later I cycled back to campus though because there was a Harry Potter quiz taking place in the Sports Bar, organized by the Fan Forum.I was really enthusiastic and secretly fucking afraid that I would fuck up. I did. Okay, not THAT much, but all the things I got wrong were really embarrassing, except for two, where the problem was that I had no idea how to say something in English because I only remembered the Hungarian version (eg "norvég tarajossárkány" is apparently Norwegian RIDGEBACK in English. Learned it for the rest of my life.) But maan, it's really annoying, I knew almost all the 'hard' questions like whose house elf is Hokey (Hepzibah Smith, obviously) and how many Sickles are in a Galleon and where was Voldemort hiding before finding Quirrell. Easy-peasy. Only one I admittedly didn't know was the name of the person Ron turned into when braking into Gringotts. But I fucked up so many others that I actually KNOW. Like I spent 5 minutes trying to decide whether Dean Thomas was the second or first boyfriend of Ginny because I knew she had Cormac at some point. Of course I chose the wrong one. And I wrote Grimauld place 13(!) instead of 12. Shaaame. Really. I felt soo bad, especially cause we didn't win anything, of course, after I fucked up. It was one of the deepest disappointments I ever felt towards myself. So after getting home I went to bed pretty early, feeling horrible.
Friday - cool training and long EFL meeting
In the morning I went to swimming practice, as I do every Friday. I was actually close to ending up not going because I felt tired and it was cold but then I gathered my strength and it was so worth it! There were only 4 of us so Pippy (the coach guy) decided to join us in the pool for the 4x500 front crawl set. We swam it at 6:20 which was comfortable and a good opportunity for me to practice my long strokes and he was leading so I just had to follow and not think about anything. Then he got out of the water but we swam a 5th 400 with a German guy so we ended up doing 3000ms altogether, which is the most we have done at training so far. We usually do around 2400-2600. The only problem is that my knees kinda hurt, had been hurting the previous day as well. Maybe they would need some rest with all the cycling and much swimming going on.After getting home I spent a lazy day on doing nothing but eating a whole bar of chocolate and digging up some pics about Hungarian instruments for the EFL presentation. And I posted on my blog. For the last week's happenings - instead of doing it last Sunday. As you can see, I am clearly really bad with keeping even my own deadlines.
In the evening we went to Ponliver's (that is how Sultan started to call Pontus and Oliver and I rather like the name) and had much fun. We completed the slides and then cooked Swedish pancakes and ate them with jam and fruits. I really like them by now, they are fun and nice and I like spending time with them every week. And it turned out Ponliver like Tenacious D too! We actually sang like two of their songs before I cycled home. Which, by the way, was pretty late, I only got home around midnight!

Saturday - shopping
I had basically no food left (apart from mug soup powder and frozen veggies and fishfinger) so we agreed with Eszter that we go shopping. But before that, I went to the Milk Market with Clem (Tom took us by car) where we spent an hour wandering around and she bought some stuff to bring home to her family as she is flying home for next weekend. I really don't have much money left but I bought a cup of hot apple juice (it was really cold and the market is kinda open so I needed something to warm me up) and I found a book of Darren Shan for 2 euros! So of course I had to buy it, I only have a few of his books in Hungarian back at home... And I am proud of myself because I resisted when I found the Order of the Phoenix for 5 euros and the whole Lord of the Rings for only 10! Gosh, if I had more money (and more space in my baggage) I would buy so many books there. Second-hand books, true, but so cheap! Oh and I also noticed that many kids not older than 12 or 14 were standing at random points of the market playing music on various instruments such as violin, flute, and guitar. They seem to start pretty early with this playing music on the streets stuff. When we got back home we almost instantly left for SuperValu to do the fecking grocery shopping - Tom took us again because the rain was really heavy. After spending a lot of money and getting some essentials, we went home and I could finally cook proper food. And also muffins: one kind with nuts and another with blueberries and chocolate chips. They were so tasty!
And I also washed some of my clothes, what a productive day! To end this nice day, Clem made us a French aperitif, we had wine and cheese (okay, Irish cheese, but still) and French paté and dried fruits. It was a nice gesture and also delicious. As Vera put it, we felt 'so grown-up'. :)

Sunday - lazing and spending a fortune
I had a lazy day again. Man, I seem to be having nothing else but lazy days all the time. :D Not that I mind but it will backfire. Siriusly. But I vacuumed, at least. It was really necessary by now as I somehow hadn't done it last week and I usually do it every week. And I also looked up what places we should visit in Dublin when my boyfriend comes to visit me and also looked up and booked accommodation. And that is what sent the numbers showing the money on my bank account alarmingly low. But at least now we have a place to stay for those 4 days. And this also means that I can't go to the swimming Gala as it will take place the same day as my bf comes, which would have been okay if not for the time of the competition. It is supposed to start at 6pm(!) so we won't finish before 9pm, as Pippy told me upon inquiry. And there is no way I can get to Dublin from Galway at 9pm. I looked it up and no buses, no trains. Fuck. So no Gala for me.Finally I did some push-ups partly because I felt too lazy and worthless and partly because Ponliver do them too and they inspired me to download a 100push-ups app. That is, Oliver did. I am not saying I will follow through with the plan but I might pack some muscles on before I quit so why not. But this will make my shoulders really rusty and cracking, I know.
